Yesteryear Collection - Royal Mail: GR

The Royal Mail van was released in 1983.

Livery: (Transfer)
'ROYAL MAIL' in black on both sides of van.
Gold Royal crown in black and red above 'GR' in black edged gold on both sides of van.

Variations/Rarities: It had a red body and a black chassis, seats and roof. Early releases were made from surplus overpainted 'Arnotts' vans and this shade of red is easily distinguishable from standard Royal Mail releases. The radiator and windscreen frame were usually gold plated but one issue had these components chrome plated.
It had a variety of wheel types fitted as it can be found with 12 spoke bright or dull red, 12 spoke chrome or gold plated or 24 spoke chrome plated.
It usually has type 3 rear doors but the first run had yellow type 2 doors.
The body of the first version was also a much more orangy red than the later issues.

There have been many noted variations to the crown, the most common being a crown with two white segments.

The first version with yellow type 2 rear doors is rare.
